NURSERY

Our Nursery Program (three years before Kindergarten) is a great introduction to preschool. We accomodate children as they are turning 2 1/2 years old, as space is available, and usually in September, January and July. In general the students stay with the nursery teachers until the following summer and then they move to the 3's turning 4 class (two years before Kindergarten).

For our Nursery Program (two years before Kindergarten) we accomodate many different schedules: half or full day (or a mix during the week), and full time or part time. Historically half the class attends five full days and the other half does some variation of schedules. Once the students transition to the 3's turning 4 class (two years before Kindergarten) we recommend five mornings as a minimum attendance.

The primary objectives of our nursery program are:

Social – learning to wait for their turn; using words to express feelings; respond to redirection

Group – line up with an auditory cue; mimic the actions of a leader; impulse control

Manners – appropriate use of Thank You and Please

Reading Readiness – participate in call and response songs/poems, anticipate next step in finger-plays, verbally spell and recognize written form of their name, associate pictures with similar beginning sounds

Mathematical Reasoning – identify basic patterns and shapes, rote count to 5, 1-1 correspondence for numerals 1-5
